Toni Bou dominates X-Trial Barcelona, Adam Raga finishes the last race of his career on the podium
The fourth event of the FIM X-Trial World Championship held in Barcelona this weekend brought no surprises in terms of the winner. The reigning champion Toni Bou showed a solid performance throughout the race and took his third win of the season.
X-Trial Barcelona was made special by veteran Adam Raga’s announcement that the home stage would be the last competition of his career. The Spaniard did not disappoint his fans and offered his opponents a memorable battle, ultimately rising to the second step of the podium.
“It is incredible to win what is the best event in the world, in front of my home crowd; it’s always special to compete here. And especially riding the way I did in the Final, giving this win a special taste. I am only sorry that my minder picked up an arm injury. For me, without wanting to think too much about the Championship, a third consecutive win is really valuable,” said winner Toni Bou after the race.
In addition to Bou and Raga, their compatriot Gabriel Marcelli completed the podium, with Frenchman Benoit Bincaz in fourth place. Somewhat surprisingly, last year’s X-Trial Tallinn winner Jaime Busto did not reach his usual heights, as he was left in seventh place in the Barcelona stage.
In the overall standings, reigning world champion Toni Bou has taken a firm lead, followed by Busto and Adam Raga.
“To finish my career in Barcelona, on the podium and competing for the win is a real dream – it has been fantastic, and I am very happy. I really felt the love of an exceptional crowd. I gave it everything in the Final after almost failing to qualify and having to go via Q2. All of that makes this a very special podium,” concluded Adam Raga.
The FIM X-Trial series continues on February 8th in Norway. A total of 8 stages will be held this season. The culmination of the World Championship will be the final race planned for April 26th in Tallinn, tickets for which are available and can be found on Piletitasku.
