Another win for Toni Bou, takes sole lead in World Championship

Last week’s FIM X-Trial World Championship stage in Clermont-Ferrand, France, kept the fans on the edge of their seat until the very last ride. In an exciting finale, reigning champion Toni Bou once again pulled the longest straw and managed to win in front of compatriot Jaime Busto.

It was Bou’s second win of the season from three races. The victory in France also elevated him to sole lead of the World Championship overall standings. Jaime Busto, who had previously shared the first position in the overall with Bou, had to settle for second place in Clermont-Ferrand and is in the same position in the World Championship standings, five points behind Bou.

While the victory in the previous race in Chambery came with playful ease for Bou, this time, the gap between Bou and the rest of the field was much tighter.

“Today has been a very different kind of Final than Chambery because it was all so close, and any errors could have cost me the win.  Jaime and Adam made life very difficult for me.  This win gives me the sole leadership of the Championship and that’s important,” said Toni Bou after the race.

The final position on the podium in Clermont-Ferrand belonged to Adam Raga, who managed to beat Frenchman Benoît Bincaz.

The fourth round of the FIM X-Trial World Championship series will take place on February 2 in Barcelona.

A total of 8 rounds will be held during the season. The culmination of the Championship is planned for April 26 in Tallinn. Tickets for the Tallinn event are available and can be found at Piletitasku.
